Food as an important role to treat Rheumatism
Rheumatism has many faces
I will include in this list also fibromyalgia due to the symptoms and food that should be avoided.
An integral holistic treatment like
acupuncture or homeopathy, including tissue salts, may help to reduce the symptoms and have a better quality of life.
For example, if the rheumatism is due to excess uric acid (Gout) and you choose to go for a homeopathic treatment, among the most common homeopathic remedies will be: Berberis, Benzoicum Acidum, Uric Acidum, Lycopodium, Lithium carbonicum, Ledum palustr ,etc. and depending on the modality and the cause, the homeopath will choose the right one for you. Hover in this case, when rheumatism is caused due to exes of uric acid is important to reduce red meat and alcohol, to reduce the uric acid and help the body to heal.
As you can read in the previous example, remedies or acupuncture is one part of the treatment but is also important to have a proper diet.
Recommended foods for those suffering from rheumatism.
And if you want to add supplements, curcumin or also called Tumeric is the one.
Foods to avoid or try to reduce as much as possible in your diet.
If there is also an excess of water in the body in the form of swelling, for example, in the knees, etc. It is necessary to reduce products with high quantities of sodium and eat products with natural sodium or less sodium.
Products to reduce due to high quantity of sodium
Just to give you an example about the products to reduce due to the high sodium in few gr. 1/2 teaspoon of salt is 1150 mg of sodium, and one can of tuna fish is 400mg of sodium; for that reason is better to avoid some products to have a balance.
However, the body still needs sodium but I will call it good sodium or low quanty, like in the following food spinach, celery, chicken breast, root beat, white egg, including prawns, taking into consideration that 100 gr of prawns has 150 mg of sodium, still low if we compare with canned tuna.
The previous recommendations are from the integral point of view of Western medicine; if we see it from the point of view of
Chinese medicine, the suggestions are similar.
In
Chinese medicine,
the pathology for joint pain diseases is called
Bi-syndrome, which means Painful Obstruction Syndrome.
According to Chinese medicine, four factors cause them:
dampness, phlegm, heat, wind, etc. In Chinese medicine, where phlegm
is found, it is recommended to
eliminate all dairy products. When
dampness is found
, its is recommended to eliminate sugar and sweets, white-wheat flour, process food.
That is why the previous recommendations also apply;
if you decide to go with acupuncture. If it is the case where there is also excess heat, you would be recommended to eliminate other types of food such as red meat and spicy condiments.
Wherever the complementary therapy you choose, acupuncture or homeopathy; remember that changes in your eating habits play a significant role in your healing
